On the 18th of March members of the Chariots of Destiny Organization met with the Kenyan ambassador to the US Honorable Elkanah Odembo at the Kenyan embassy headquarters in Washington, DC. The ambassador who has been very supportive in advocating for the rights of people with disabilities in Kenya also showed his support to the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety by wearing the "Tag" the official symbol for the 10 year effort to save millions of lives on the world's roads.
In Kenya each year at least 3700 people are killed and thousands injured and disabled as a result of road crashes. The Decade of Action will be launched in Kenya and globally on the 11th of May 2011 with different government officials, organizations and individuals coming together with a goal to "stabilize and reduce" global road deaths by 2020.
