Casey’s Story

Of all the statements that Casey said, one will remain forever engraved in my heart-‘it could have been worse’. It is indeed remarkable that anyone can use those words after becoming paralyzed from the shoulders down, Yet, this is what Casey said and that is what makes her an amazing and inspirational young woman. After completing her O level education at Alliance Girls High School in year 2000, Casey joined the rest of her family in Kampala, Uganda where her father was working.  She continued with her education and sat for her A levels in 2002.Upon completion, she decided to pursue her further studies in the UK. Eva Mueni

Eva Mueni is a 26 year old lady living in Nairobi with her auntie.  She is the first born in a family of two.  On completing her secondary education she attended Nyeri Polytechnic where she obtained a diploma in secretarial studies.  On completion she landed a job with A.A.R. as a personal assistant.

In July of 2005 while travelling back from Athi River on a work-related trip, Eva was involved in a road accident where the driver knocked a pothole and lost control of the car, colliding with an oncoming vehicle. [more...]

Jonathan Muthumbi’s Story

Jonathan Muthubi is a 35 year old man.  At the age of 27 Jonathan was involved in a car accident that left him quadriplegic (paralyzed from the shoulders down).  Previously, he was an all-round performer plying his trade in the performing arts in theatres including Phoenix Players, acting dancing and singing.  In 1996, Jonathan was picked along with six other people from six different African countries to fly down to South Africa, and take part in a project funded by the IUCN a UN subsidiary, with interest in conservation to develop a play with a conservationist message.  The project and subsequent play got to travel the world, visiting Europe, North America and south and central Africa, with theatrical success at the Edinburgh Festival and Graham's town Festival. [More...]
