Action Alert

Members of CoD on an action alert project

Chariots of Destiny started the action alerts project to reach out to cases with an urgent need for assistance. This has and will be achieved through one-on-one visits to people in rural areas as well as those within the city centre, meeting them at their specific point of needs and enhancing openings for future self economic independence-hence one of our main goals "economic empowerment".

The Maragua Experience

James Njoroge is a 26-year-old single man. He lives in Maragua District with both his parents in a one roomed mud house.  He is the third born in a family of five, and is provided for by his mother who is a peasant farmer and earns her living by tilling other people's land.

In 2005 Njoroge was admitted in hospital for pneumonia where he started developing Para paresis of both lower limbs, allegedly because of being injected repeatedly on the same spot. After a while Njoroge was not able to walk, and therefore started undergoing physiotherapy at Maragua District Hospital. Due to lack of finances to purchase a wheelchair, he had to crawl to the hospital or be supported on a bicycle by well wishers. [more.....]

Road Safety Projects

COD members took the Make Road Safe campaign to the streets and launched at uchumi  ngong road.Members of the public were sensitised to sign the petitions as they received awareness wrist bands and t-shirts . The campaign was carried out at the major uchumi supermarkets running for a period of six weeks and also at the United States International University, Kenyatta and Daystar University. More campaigns are scheduled for the next three months around the country before the UN road safety debate scheduled in March (www.makeroadssafe.org) to read more about the campaign.  Click “here” to view pictures from the campaign.
