About Us
The Chariots of Destiny (COD) is an organization formed to address the weighty challenges faced by persons with disabilities in the transport sector, as well as empower those living with spinal cord injuries, reaffirming their social and economic status in society and enhancing their self-worth and quality of life. To realize this noble goal, the organization also undertakes the programs of advocacy and awareness, an accessible disability vehicle program and a research program. |
Who We Are
Chariots of Destiny, was established to assist people with disabilities socially, economically and psychologically as well as help them participate in and contribute to the community on an equal basis with others.
Transportation has been the greatest hindrance in the actualization of the above. To bring this much-needed difference in the transport sector, COD has envisaged The Smooth Ride Project where it intends to purchase wheelchair accessible vehicles to be used in Nairobi and later to other parts of the country. COD will not only benefit those on wheelchairs, but also individuals with other conditions like cerebral palsy, strokes and those with other physical impairments who struggle with limited mobility.

Our Belief
Destiny is the purpose of one's life yet to be discovered and realized!
Through car accidents, gunshots, sports accidents or medical related conditions, individuals' lives are changed permanently, leaving them on wheelchairs. Nonetheless they refuse to believe that their lives are over and are joined together by an unwavering belief that life can, and does move on despite the economic and social stigmatization
Persons with disabilities go through unspeakable myriad of challenges as they try to fit in the Kenyan public service transport. We have got a long way to go, but it is a journey that Chariots of Destiny is embarking on as it hopes to initiate the platform of transformation of the transport sector in relation to the needs of persons with disabilities in Kenya.
Our Mission
Chariots of Destiny is dedicated to empowering individuals with spinal injuries, re-affirming their social and economic status in society and enhancing their self worth and quality of life. This is to be achieved through providing disability transport, improving accessibility and mobility, creating awareness and dissemination of information amongst others.
Specific aims include:
- Providing and expanding support and services to individuals on wheelchairs especially in the transport realm by introducing wheelchair accessible vehicles
- Making basic education accessible to individuals on wheelchairs through computer training such as the use of voice activated software
- Raising public awareness and addressing the prejudice, stereotypes, and attitudes that can harm or exclude people on wheelchairs
- Empowering caregivers, parents, friends and families of people on wheelchairs by training them and fostering their participation in realizing the individual’s rights
- Influencing changes in disability policies, practices, ideas and beliefs in our country.
